FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — VividRich HQ Studios owner Rory Walker is one of the latest victims in a string of studio break-ins in the Atlanta metro area.
Walker showed Channel 2′s Tyisha Fernandes video of how the brazen thieves entered his studio.
“You have to get through five doors just to get to where the lockup is,” said Walker.
The thieves got in by kicking in doors and tearing the studio up.
“My heart is like, please, I hope Brian or one of my employees aren’t inside; because we see one guy with a gun, so I hope none of my employees are around,” said Walker.
Luckily, no employees were inside when the four suspects broke in early Sunday morning.
It was clear to Walker this was a targeted attack with goals of stealing expensive cameras and monitors.
The thieves stole more than $200,000 worth of equipment.
According to the police, this has been happening at several different studios in metro Atlanta since last year.
This theft hit the community hard. VividRich HQ Studios is a smaller studio that helps new musicians. They also provide free promotional videos for the YMCA, feed homeless people and assist students with their final projects.
“We serve most of the clients that aren’t able to go to other studios, but still want a high quality body of work, but at a price they can afford,” said Walker.
Walker believes the only way this is going to stop is if people refuse to buy this equipment off the street. However, if potential buyers won’t stop buying the stolen goods, crews like these will continue kicking down doors.
