“This is what motivates us.” That’s what healthcare workers had to say about the moments that patients are released from their hospitals after winning their battles with coronavirus.
Currently, there are more than 24,000 confirmed coronavirus cases in Georgia and more than 1,000 deaths. We often report on these numbers, but it is much more difficult to report on recoveries for many reasons, largely because that number is not tracked by the state of Georgia.

That’s what makes videos and moments like these so special. Wellstar Health System shared several stories of patients who recovered from the virus and the celebrations they received as they were released from the hospital.
“These are long and difficult days for our community, but we want to take the time to celebrate the victories along the way,” Wellstar Cobb Hospital posted about the incredible moment their 100th patient was discharged.

At Wellstar Paulding Hospital, hospital staff played the song “Eye of the Tiger” as patient Jenny Torres was discharged.
“We did have Eye of the Tiger playing in the background, but the applause and cheers from our team would have drowned out any music. Jenny’s release symbolizes that together we can beat COVID-19,” the hospital posted on Facebook.
