ATLANTA — Channel 2 Action News has learned it will be nearly two months before a busy section of Peachtree Street is back to normal.
A beautification project is causing closures on the Peachtree Bridge over I-85 near the Amtrak station in Midtown Atlanta.
The project is causing major traffic delays, especially during morning and evening rush hour.

The Midtown Alliance is overseeing the project, which includes barriers separating the sidewalks from Peachtree Street, landscaping and decorative bridge fencing.
The Midtown Alliance says one northbound lane of Peachtree may remain closed during daytime work hours. They’ll limit double-lane closures to nighttime shifts from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
The I-85 bridge collapse delayed the project. It was supposed to be finished in April, but the new target date is October 1.
