3 people shot at Buckhead intersection early Sunday morning

ATLANTA — Atlanta police are investigating a shootout at a Buckhead intersection early Sunday morning that sent three people to the hospital.

Police say they were called out to the intersection of Pharr Road and North Fulton Drive around 2 a.m. Sunday, after a report of shots fired. Investigators say the believe a man got out of a white SUV and fired at some people gathered on the sidewalk before getting back in the SUV, which sped away.

Police said two men on the sidewalk were shot in the abdomen and drove themselves to Piedmont hospital. They are both expected to survive.

Officers also found a woman still at the scene with a gunshot wound to the leg. She was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital and then moved to Atlanta Medical Center, but her injuries were also not considered serious.

That area of Buckhead is just off the main square and is the home to many popular restaurants and bars. It’s unclear if the victims or the shooter had been at nearby clubs or bars.

Police said they are still searching for the shooter and there is no clear motive.
