ATLANTA — Are you $1.6 billion richer?
Tuesday night, the Mega Millions reached a new milestone with a $1.6 billion jackpot, the largest in the game's history.

The jackpot has also set a new world record after the jackpot continued to rollover since July. Channel 2 Action News was the only news station to take viewers live inside the studio where the winning numbers were drawn.
Lottery officials said Tuesday that about 200 tickets were sold every second for the chance to become the next billionaire.

Channel 2's Berndt Petersen went to Mableton Tuesday, where he found a long line inside Heby's Shell convenience store.

Locals told Petersen that Heby's is a lucky store. Eight years ago, a Powerball-winning ticket worth $116 million was sold there.
Local vendor Dustin Evans said there was a different feeling in the store Tuesday.
“You can definitely feel it in the air. It feels like it might be me,” Evans said.

Every person in line had a Mega Millions story to tell along with 1.6 billion ideas as to what they would do with the money if they won.
Petersen ran into a man by the name of Chef Shombe. He had something 'else' on his mind.
The chef's food counter was perfectly placed in the back of the store.
“The line gets all the way around to the Coke machine and goes past our free samples. That's all it takes. Once they take it, it's a wrap," Shombe said. “The lottery and barbecue goes very good together.”
Evans said he had some 20 stores to stop at throughout the day. His Mega Millions strategy: buy one ticket at every store on his route.
“Everybody (is) so excited to be playing. I usually don't play. I figured today, why not?" Evans said.
There was no Mega Millions winner when the record drawing of $1 billion was drawn Friday, rolling over at a whopping $1.6 billion.
Despite the massive payout from the jackpot, The CEO of the Georgia Lottery said the real winners from the drawing, will be students.
"On an average day, Georgia players provide about $3 million towards Georgia students. This jackpot has already generated an extra $4 million than an average jackpot," Georgia Lottery CEO Gretchen Corbin told Channel 2's Craig Lucie.
The Georgia Lottery said the current Mega Millions cycle, which began in July, has raised an estimated $24.3 million for the HOPE Scholarship and Pre-K programs in the state.
Fifteen people won $1 million in Friday’s drawing, according to the Georgia Lottery's website.
According to the Georgia Lottery, 14 players in Georgia won $10,000.
Those tickets were purchased in Alpharetta, Athens, Atlanta, Cave Spring, Cornelia, Duluth, Macon, Marietta (2), McDonough, Morrow, Sandy Springs, Stone Mountain and Tifton.
