MERIWETHER COUNTY, Ga. — The National Weather Service confirms a tornado touched down in Georgia during a severe storm Wednesday afternoon.
The EF-0 tornado with winds of 80-85 mph touched down in Meriwether County and traveled for 3.1 miles.
Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Brian Monahan was tracking a Severe Thunderstorm Warning in the area at the time.
The twister damaged “numerous” trees and also destroyed a fruit stand, barn and garage.
Two homes sustained roof damage from with trees or shingles being blown off.
