GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — It was a wild scene Thursday morning at a gas station on Jimmy Carter Boulevard in Gwinnett County -- a tractor-trailer plowed through a parking lot, hit multiple cars and overturned.
Police said the tractor-trailer slammed into the back of a car on Jimmy Carter Blvd., then the car and the big rig went over a retaining wall and crashed into nearly a dozen cars at a QuikTrip gas station.
One person had to be rescued from a car, police said. The person was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
“Looking at the wreckage over there, I’m just like, I pray to God no one is seriously hurt,” said witness Jennifer Pace.
At man at the scene, who said he was driving the tractor-trailer, said he was hauling rolls of paper weighing 5,500 pounds. He had no other comment.
“I’ve never ran into one like this before. Pretty interesting,” said witness Rusty Raines.
Police said the crash is still under investigation, so it’s unknown right now if the truck driver will face charges or if the weather played a role.
