ATLANTA — A train derailment is still blocking part of an Atlanta neighborhood more than 12 hours after it happened.
The Norfolk Southern Train derailed around 9 p.m. Sunday near Parrot Avenue in northwest Atlanta.
At least one person was injured and is recovering in a hospital.
Channel 2′s Sophia Choi learned that the train was coming from the company’s Inman Yard, carrying a mixed load with two tank cars, three box cars and one cargo container.
Norfolk Southern says none of the containers leaked anything and crews are working hard to clear the wreckage and fix the tracks.

“They’ll be working throughout today, as quickly as possible for the community sake and for our sake, we’d like to get that area back up and running,” said Jeff DeGraff from Norfolk Southern.
One of three tracks out is still running. But the area is blocked off as crews finish their work.
A neighbor who heard the crash said it sounded like an earthquake.
“It was extremely loud. It was frightening, I was just sitting watching TV and I jumped out of the couch,” Jack Zenter said.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the derailment.
