FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Marcus Comer's quick actions kept his 6-month-old son from getting hurt when a tree fell on the home where they're living with other relatives on Kimball Road in South Fulton County.
Comer showed Channel 2's Shae Rozzi the damage in the bedroom and where he and his wife were sleeping with the baby.
"I was laying on this side, the baby was in the middle and my wife was on this side. As [the tree] was coming down, I jumped on top of my son, rolled over and got him up out of here," Comer said.
When the tree sliced through the roof it forced insulation from the attic and drywall from the ceiling into the crib where baby DeMarcus normally sleeps.
"I'm glad they're all OK," Comer's friend Edward Rowland told Rozzi. "All I heard was a big boom sound."
Rowland was visiting Comer over night when continuous rain uprooted the tree.
The home is left without power and the homeowner is trying to sort out his insurance to determine how to clean up the mess.
