JACKSONVILLE, Fl. — The NFL Draft is just two weeks away and it’s no surprise that Jacksonville Jaguars fans want their team to select Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence with the No. 1 pick.

Fans have already thrown their support behind Lawrence, but not in the usual way you might think. A group raised thousands of dollars to give to charity as a wedding gift for Lawrence and his wife Marissa.

In response, Lawrence announced the couple would donate $20,000 to Jacksonville charities.

“Thank you @Jaguars fans. We really appreciate the wedding gifts and donations for charities of our choice! In addition to the donations, Marissa and I will also be donating $20K to charities in Jacksonville. Thanks again, we hope to be a part of your community soon.”

Action News Jax reported that this all started when a super fan posted the couple’s wedding registry and joked someone should buy him a toaster.

Then another person suggested that fans should get together to buy them a gift. Fans kept donating and within hours, they raised $5,000.

As of Sunday night, the total is now over $31,200, which the fans voted to donate to charity.

Lawrence and Mowry met while attending Cartersville High School in Cartersville, Georgia. They dated for six years before they became engaged in July.

The couple married in a ceremony on April 10 in Bluffton, South Carolina.

The next celebration for Lawrences will be when they hear Trevor’s name called on draft night. The 2021 NFL Draft will air on Channel 2 starting Thursday April 29 at 8 p.m.
