BARROW COUNTY, Ga. — A little boy critically injured when a tree limb fell on him is making big strides three years after the tragic accident.
Tripp Halstead was 2 years old when knocked unconscious by the limb at his daycare center in October 2012. He was left with brain damage and has been through more than a dozen surgeries.
Thursday, Tripp’s family is celebrating another milestone. Halstead’s mom, Stacy, posted on the Tripp Halstead Updates Facebook page this morning that Tripp lifted his head all the way up by himself for the first time.
“It was amazing to watch! I was crying, his therapist was crying. I texted everyone I knew and put it in FB! This is huge!!!!,” Stacy posted.
In the post she said she knew he had been gaining better control of his head recently. The 4-year-old has been turning it side to side and not letting it flop like before, but she said he still wasn’t able to lift it the way he did Thursday morning.
“So proud of you Tripp! I took a rapid 100 pictures but this one shows how high he got his head! It's a good day!!! Every day is so different with Tripp and he may not do this again for a month, but he did it today and we are celebrating!!!” Stacy posted.
