PIERCE COUNTY, Ga. — At Pierce County High School they are as proud as they can be.

“Truly surreal to see one of our own do something only a handful of kids have ever done. How many kids from a small town like this have ever been able to play on that kind of stage?” play-by-play announcer John Dupont said.

Dupont calls the games for Pierce County High, and he never saw any player like Stetson Bennett.

Stetson graduated in 2017, and threw 95 touchdown passes during his three years leading the Bears.

What he did this year for the Georgia Bulldogs surprises no one around these parts.

He was a winner from day one.

Last Friday and again on Monday, they celebrated Stetson Bennett days at the school.

It was a celebration of a student and player worthy of two events.

“This whole town has been about him the whole time, because he’s one of us,” Head Coach Andrew Evans said.
