Ultra Lounge shooter arrested nearly 1 year later, deputies say

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — After nearly 1 year on the run, sheriff’s officials say they have arrested the suspect in a nightclub shooting that left a man injured.

The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office said they arrested Kalvin Parker on Friday after deputies pulled him over in the county for having no insurance.

Authorities said Parker lied about his identity twice but when he finally told the deputy his real name, he was taken into custody.

On March 25, 2019, investigators said Parker beat and shot a man several times outside the Ultra Lounge at Highway 138 in Riverdale. Luckily, the man survived.

It’s unclear what led up to the shooting, but it happened in the parking lot around 2 a.m.

The owner of the lounge said his business was open but was adamant the shooting had nothing to do with his business.

"We service thousands of people in this community week to week. I do want the community to know it was an isolated event that happened. We don’t have those kinda things that happen, but things can happen anywhere," Brandon Lester said.

Deputies noted during Parker’s arrest, he had tears in his eyes as he “took his final ride from freedom for years to come.”

Parker was charged with aggravated battery, driving with a suspended license, pimping and other drug charges.

Authorities said there have been other arrests in this case.
