Right off Cardiff Road on Bayside Beach in Ocean City, Ryan Leonard saw a purple urn with words that read, “In Loving Memory Mom, Paulette Eva Rose (Tricoche), 7-22-1949 and 6-24-2021.”
The mystery of how the ashes of a Georgia woman ended up almost 900 miles away from where she died is slowly unraveling.

Leonard posted a picture of the urn in a Facebook group after not receiving much luck from a Google search.
He included the link to Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home, which had Tricoche’s obituary.
Tricoche, 71, died June 24, 2021, at Pine Pointe Hospice. The obituary said services would be held at a later date.

Leonard believed the urn still contained the ashes of Tricoche because it was full, but he didn’t want to force it open.
With an update posted to Facebook on Oct. 11, he said the urn was returned to the woman’s family in Cape May Court House.
He thanked Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home and Low Country Cremation & Burial for helping with the connections.
