A veteran says he couldn’t afford to eat. These Powder Springs officers stepped in to help

POWDER SPRINGS, Ga. — Powder Springs police department is recognizing three officers for stepping into help a hungry veteran.

On Thursday, the three officers met a veteran who said he hadn’t eaten in days and lost around 50 pounds recently.

The veteran told the officers that he wasn’t sure when he could afford food as he waited on his VA check. That is when the officers decided to pitch in.

Powder Springs police say the officers collected money together and purchased groceries.

“People typically know officers for their acts of bravery, but this is true heroism. Each and every one of us can be a hero if we just listen to the needs around us and act when we see a problem. Thank you Officers for acting outside of your job obligations to be good humans,” the department wrote on Facebook.

Powder Springs police shared a photo of the veteran in hopes someone may recognize him and can reach out to help, too.
