CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Police are searching for a thief who was caught on camera ripping a tablet right out of a 4-year-old’s hands.
The boy’s mother says the brazen theft traumatized her son.
“It really hurt. My son he kept asking, ‘Mommy, Mommy, am I gonna get my tablet back,’” Tamara Nolan said.
Nolan says she and her two kids were at the First Coin Laundry on Tara Boulevard Sunday afternoon. She says he 4-year-old was playing on his tablet and her other son read a book when a man walked up, grabbed the tablet and ran out the door.
“He's like, ‘Mommy! Mommy!’ and I’m like, ‘What?’ and I looked back and he's like, ‘That guy just took Cameron’s tablet,’” Nolan said.
The whole thing was caught on very clear surveillance video.
The man was wearing a Nike shirt, green pants and lime shoes as he walked around the laundromat with a phone to his ear before snatching the tablet.
A witness saw him run out of the store and cross Tara Boulevard.
“He almost got hit by a car running across the street. Just running from stealing a tablet could have killed himself,” Nolan said.
Nolan says there is location tracking on the tablet but the location setting was turned off.
She says her 4-year-old just can't understand why the man who took his tablet won't bring it back.
“Please turn yourself in and give back what belongs to my 4-year-old son,” she said.
