ATLANTA — A Waffle House employee said she felt like she was being smothered by a customer and that pulling out a gun was a way to quiet him down.
Atlanta police said officers were called to the location at 300 Marietta Street Northwest near Centennial Olympic Park around 1 a.m. Wednesday.

The officer said he was met by the victim, Candy Franklin, who said that the Waffle House employee, Angelic Patterson, pointed a gun at him.
Franklin told investigators that he was in an argument with Patterson about his food order, and when Patterson got mad, he said she pulled out a handgun and pointed it at him. He said he left and called the police.
When police talked to Patterson, she told officers that Franklin started arguing with her and the cook “the minute he made his order,” and that they were, in fact, making it correctly. Patterson said that Franklin’s complaints went on for several minutes and that she had to change his order several times because he was unhappy about it.

Patterson said she became so upset at one point that she went outside to take a smoke break, but Franklin even followed her out there and continued to “berate” her. She said that she listened to this for several minutes and then went back inside and gave him his food and he left.
Police said there were no witnesses in the incident, but there were several cameras inside the restaurant. However, police have not yet gained access to them.

Police have charged Patterson with aggravated assault.
No one was injured.
