SOCIAL CIRCLE, Ga. — An auctioneer in Covington is garnering attention for some interesting items sold off during a recent auction.
One of those items was a Victorian bed frame belonging to murdered actress Sharon Tate. Tate and four others, including Folger Coffee heiress Abigail Folger, were killed in the notorious Manson murders in 1969.
According to official paperwork, Folger was sitting on the bed when the murders began.
"It was Abigail Folger who was staying in that room. She was sitting on the bed when Susan Atkins walked by. They smiled at one another, waved at one another. She thought Atkins was a friend of Sharon Tate, not realizing she was part of the Manson family,” auctioneer Kris Clark said.

Clark said he knew putting the frame up for bid was risky.
“My first thought was, I was worried about drawing the wrong attention or possibly having a group of more undesirable people who are huge fans of Charles Manson,” Clark said.
Clark has the paperwork to prove the bed is genuine. He said a fan of Sharon Tate bought it from the original owner back in the '90s.
The bed sold to an out-of-state buyer for $14,000. Clark says the new owner is also a big fan of the late actress.
“When the hammer fell on it, it was to a phone bidder, an undisclosed buyer, everyone in the crowd cheered,” Clark said.
The bed has been moved to an undisclosed location until the new owner takes possession.
