Severe weather brings down trees across metro area

ATLANTA — Severe storms caused damage as they moved through metro Atlanta Wednesday morning.

Several tornado warnings were issued as the storms moved through. They have now all been canceled.

Severe Weather Team 2 is tracking the timing of showers in your neighborhood, on Channel 2 Action News starting at 4 p.m. 

The Atlanta airport also issued a ground stop due to the weather. It has since been lifted, but delays remain.

Severe Weather Team 2 says rain and storms will continue for parts of the area until this afternoon.

11:00 a.m. Storms continue to move east through north Georgia.

10:50 p.m. Channel 2's Steve Gehlbach says the American Red Cross is on site helping families whose homes were damaged in the storms.

10:32 a.m. FAA lifts ground stop at Atlanta airport. Ground delay now in affect with departure delays between 15 and 30 minutes.

10:26 a.m. Nitz is watching for possible severe weather in the line of storms from Athens to LaGrange.

10:23 a.m. Reports of multiple trees down in Heard County along Huff Rd. near Roopville, Nitz says.

9:53 a.m.  FAA issues ground stop at Atlanta airport as severe weather moves through.

9:34 a.m. Wires hanging low over Buford Highway, so roadway will remain closed, Duluth police officials tweeted.

9:17 a.m. Tornado Warning issued for Coweta, Heard, Meriwether and Troup counties.

9 a.m. Crews are working on a power outage to the City's circuit serving the Raco Industrial Park and Discovery High School area, Lawrenceville officials said.
