Winter storm: DoorDash wants you to stop ordering food during icy conditions

ATLANTA — DoorDash says the roads around metro Atlanta are too icy for drivers to bring you food.

The company says they activated Severe Weather Protocol on Friday and suspended operations in the Atlanta area.

They say this is in response to the winter storm that moved into metro Atlanta and north Georgia on Friday morning. Icy conditions are sticking around throughout the day on Saturday.

DoorDash has suspended operations in:

  • Athens
  • Atlanta
  • Brookhaven
  • Buckhead
  • Calhoun
  • Canton
  • Conyers
  • Covington
  • Duluth
  • Fairburn
  • Fair Oaks
  • Gainesville
  • Griffin
  • Johns Creek
  • Lithia Springs
  • Macon
  • Marietta
  • Marietta North
  • McDonough
  • North Druid Hills
  • Peachtree City
  • Rome
  • Roswell
  • Sandy Springs
  • Woodstock

“With heavy snowfall and low visibility, the snow storm is a serious threat to our community, and we’ve taken decisive action by activating our Severe Weather Protocol,” said DoorDash spokesperson Julian Crowley. “We deeply appreciate the patience and understanding of Dashers, merchants and consumers, and will resume operations as soon as it’s safe to do so.”

DoorDash did not say when they expect to start delivering in the area again.
