The Winter Storm Watch begins Sunday at 1 a.m. for portions of northeast Georgia, where 1 to 2 inches of snow is possible, with some areas at the very highest elevations receiving several inches.
We’re using the most powerful weather technology to accurately pinpoint the areas that could see the most snow with this rapidly changing system on Channel 2 Action News Saturday AM, starting at 6 a.m.
Freezing rain with a possible one-tenth inch of ice is possible across much of northeast Georgia.
Gusty wind, 25-30 mph, combined with ice may lead to scattered power outages in northeast Georgia.
But even if you won’t get wintry mix, you’re still going to be getting cold rain. The showers move into much of Georgia Saturday morning.
Areas could see up to 3 inches of rain over the next several days, which could cause minor flooding.
Temperatures will remain in the 40s and 30s throughout the weekend and into the week.
Winter Storm Watch has been issued for the NE Georgia mountains where 1-2" snowfall is expected, with some of the very highest ridges (Rabun County especially) getting 5"+.
