ATLANTA — North Georgia experienced a winter wonderland on Friday as several inches of snow blanketed the area.
Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Brian Monahan says snow will continue in the mountains and occasionally mix with sleet through late Friday.

Across metro Atlanta, we’ll see a mix of some sleet, but it will mainly be freezing rain and rain and ice accumulation.
Before the transition to freezing rain, metro Atlanta saw a few inches of snow. Here are the snowfall totals that have been reported.
- Rome 0.8″
- Jasper 1.0″
- Dunwoody 1.5″
- Cleveland 2.0″
- North Druid Hills 2.0″
- Marietta 2.3″
- East Cobb 2.5″
- Roswell 2.5″
- Midtown Atlanta 3.0″
- Downtown Atlanta 3.5″
- Norcross 3.5″
Monahan says the snow that fell on Friday morning will be compacted and coated with a layer of ice as we go through Friday night.
