Witness: Angry, jobless man shot family at Gwinnett home

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Channel 2 Action News spoke to a man who saw several family members get shot in a rampage at a Gwinnett County home.

Ted Longnecker is shell-shocked. His wife, Charlotte, and his sister-in-law Betty Mclean, are both recovering inside Gwinnett Medical Center.

His niece and nephew, Kayla Serrano and Andre Mclean, and the shooter are all dead. On Tuesday afternoon, a family member shot four people inside the home on Bannor Lane in Peachtree Corners.

Ted Longnecker says the shooter, Brandon Mclean, was an unemployed, angry young man.

"He had no ambitions, stayed around the house and lived around his mother," said Ted Longnecker.

Relatives say Brandon Mclean became agitated and was yelling at 13-year-old Kayla. He then walked upstairs.

Then, Brandon Mclean walked into a room where he saw Kayla.

"(I) heard a shot. Brandon was standing over Andre. Andre was saying 'Oh God, he shot Kayla,'" said Longnecker.

"He shot Kayla. I'm not sure how many shots, but there was a lot. Andre was gasping for breath trying to crawl for the bathroom," said Longnecker.

Longnecker's wife came out to see what was going on and was shot in the arm.

She went into the bathroom, closed the door, and that's when six shots rang out. Six went in from the bathroom door. One of those shots hit Betty Mclean in the chest.

Ted Longnecker says Brandon Mclean took a shot at him before shooting himself. Brandon Mclean later died of his self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Loved ones say the family is heartbroken and strapped for cash. They don't have life insurance to cover the teens' burial expenses and the family's home is in shambles.

A memorial fund has been set up for the family at Bank of America. The account number is #334019053529.
