NORTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Channel 2 Action News has learned the name of a woman killed moments after getting off a MARTA bus in Alpharetta Thursday morning.

Alpharetta police told Channel 2's Audrey Washington the incident happened on the 5000 block of North Point Parkway.

The woman, identified as 54-year-old Ramona Devore, of Jonesboro, darted across the road and was hit by two cars, Alpharetta Police spokesman Jason Muenzer said.

Muenzer told Washington the drivers stopped and said they thought they hit debris.

"It’s unfortunate," Muenzer said. “Thankfully they did stop, they did take a look and noticed that they did in fact have a body in the road.”

Washington spoke with a friend of Devore's coworker. She said everyone on the bus was horrified the moment she was hit and killed.

“She had cross the northbound lanes of traffic,” the woman said.

Verizon has a building just feet from where the woman was killed. None of the Verizon employees would speak about the accident at the scene.

A Verizon spokesperson confirmed to Washington that Devore was one of their employees.

Police said charges are unlikely.

“We believe this to be a horrible accident,” Muenzer said.
