JONES COUNTY, Ga. — Deputies responding to reports of a woman’s body found along a hiking trail in Middle Georgia ended up with an even odder case on their hands.
The “body” turned out to be a life-sized doll, complete with clothes and accessories.
Deputies were called to reports of a body found along a trail in the Hitchiti National Forest north of Macon.

Deputies couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief and poke a little bit of fun at the discovery on Facebook.

“Never missing the opportunity, the crime scene was appropriately processed and the evidence was collected and brought to the Sheriff’s Officer,” Sheriff Reece wrote on Facebook. “The victim, now named Selena, is a little under the weather, but she has been having a nice day and is expected a make a full recovery.”
The sheriff’s office said it was a small blessing that this turned out to just be a case of littering and assured residents that no DNA would be collected.

The jokes continued in the comments. Social media influencer and comedian Officer Daniels, who has more than 2 million followers on Facebook, even got in on the fun.
“Well, now I know where she ran off too,” Daniels wrote. “Did she get booked into evidence? How can I retrieve her?”
