COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Police say three women forced their way into a Cobb County apartment and a bullet nearly hit a father in the head. His 6-year-old son was just feet away.

Last week, the victim told authorities the women tricked him into opening the door to his Windy Hill Road apartment complex.

Police said they barged into his home with a gun.

The victim and his 6-year old son were inside.  The boy’s grandfather was there, too.

Police said the women wanted to steal DVDs but the father stood his ground and pulled out his gun.

The trio backed away.

According to an arrest warrant Channel 2's Cobb County Bureau Chief Chris Jose obtained, one of the women, Jessica Barrett "fired one round."

The bullet hit the door, just above the father’s head.

On Friday, Jose learned Cobb County officers arrested Barrett and Lakeisha Frazier. A third person is still on the run.

Neighbors described the confusion and commotion.

“Bunch of lights. They were out here investigating, in bushes and everything, it was crazy,” said neighbor Amir Bennett.

Bennett said there’s still a bullet hole in a door.

"I don’t know why people have that kind of mind to steal from people. Everybody is working hard to pay bills and all of that. It’s very sad," said neighbor Shalom Dike.

Both women are facing numerous charges including home invasion, aggravated assault and cruelty to children.
