WSB Radio’s Scott Slade stepping aside from morning show after 32 years

ATLANTA — A WSB Radio legend announced the he will step away from hosting his morning radio show after 32 years.

Scott Slade made his announcement during Atlanta’s Morning News on Friday. Slade will stay with WSB Radio and reveal more about his new role at a later date.

“After 32 years hosting Atlanta’s Morning News, I’m looking forward to my next chapter with 95.5 WSB,” Slade said. “This has been my radio home for nearly 40 years, so stay tuned--after a break to recharge my batteries, I’m excited about the freedom of exploring some new horizons here. In the meantime, I’m looking forward to spending more time with family, friends and colleagues without being preoccupied with the next time the alarm will go off!”

Slade first started working at WSB Radio with an overnight music show in 1984. In 1991, he became the host of “Atlanta’s Morning News” and he has been the longest-running morning host in the Atlanta market.

Slade also started the WSB Radio Care-a-thon for the AFLAC Cancer Center at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta in 2000. The event raises millions of dollars to fight children’s cancer and blood disorders.

Slade is a member of the Georgia Association of Broadcasters’ Hall of Fame and Georgia Radio Hall of Fame.
