On Thursday, the body of a child was found at a garbage facility. The remains have not been identified, but the boy’s mother, Asia Mitchell, is already planning to lay her son to rest. The family will hold a balloon release in honor of Mitchell this evening in Carroll County.
Channel 2′s Tom Jones was with Asia Mitchell Friday afternoon when someone dropped a floral arrangement off at her home. The grieving mother became too emotional to finish her interview with Jones.“I miss his smile. I miss his face. I miss his head,” she said.
East Point Police Chief Shawn Buchanan said police believe North dumped the child’s body in a dumpster near his home. Garbage crews unknowingly transported the body to a nearby transfer station.

Asia Mitchell wrote two words about her child’s father on social media: “You evil.”
Jones asked her why she wrote that.
“Because it is evil,” Mitchell said. “My baby ain’t deserve this... and for you to not tell me nothing.”
Police said North is their primary suspect.
Jones asked Mitchell what she would want people to know about her son.
“He was just... just a one-of-a-kind baby. Like, he stood out,” Mitchell said.
North is being held on charges of making false statements and falsely reporting a crime. Police said those charges will be upgraded to include murder and concealing the death of another.
Police have not said how J’Asiah died or what his father’s motive may have been.
The family has set up a GoFundMe to help with the child’s funeral expenses HERE.
