Man Charged In Fake Concert Ticket Scam

ALPHARETTA, Ga. — A 29-year-old man was charged after authorities said he duped concert goers into buying fake event tickets.

Jackson Douglas Sneed recently sold dozens of counterfeit tickets to concerts at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Alpharetta, according to the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety.

Channel 2's Pam Martin was at the Fulton County Jail Saturday, where Sneed faced a judge for an 11 a.m. court hearing.

Sneed faces charges including theft by taking and a felony first-degree forgery offense.

Police said Sneed sold bogus tickets in person and on Craigslist. They said he sometimes used his mother's name, Mary Sneed.

One victim told Channel 2 Action News that he managed to get his money back. Joe Oliver said he tracked Sneed when he couldn't get into a concert.

"He kind of denied it all saying it was a big miscommunication and mistake on his part. He never really fessed up to it when he was returning the money, but I could tell he was sweating it," said Joe Oliver.

A Fulton County judge said that Sneed was convicted in 2005 of attempting to get dangerous drugs by fraud. He said that conviction was taken into consideration when he set Sneed's bond at $15,000.
