NEW ORLEANS, La. — After the deadly attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, several airlines are now offering waivers for travelers to change their flights.

Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines, Southwest Airlines, American Airlines and United Airlines made the announcement on Wednesday.

Delta says tickets for flights booked to or from New Orleans between Jan. 1-3, must be reissued on or before Jan. 6. Rebooked travel must begin no later than Jan. 6.

Delta says difference in fare may apply if rebooked travel happens after Jan. 6.

If you can’t reschedule your travel within these guidelines, you can cancel your reservation and apply any unused value of the ticket towards the purchase of a new ticket for a period of one year from the date that the original ticket was purchased.

If you booked your flight on Southwest Airlines, you can rebook or travel on standby within 14 days of your original travel date without additional charges.

If your flight is canceled or significantly delayed by Southwest and you choose to cancel your trip, you may be eligible for a refund for the unused ticket (even if it was non-refundable) and any optional travel charges like EarlyBird or Upgraded Boarding) you paid for the flight.

American Airlines is waiving fees for changed flights to or from New Orleans for any fare class if you:

  • Bought your ticket by Jan. 1
  • Are scheduled to travel between Jan. 1-Jan. 3
  • Can travel between Jan. 1-6, and don’t change your origin or destination city.

You can either rebook in the same cabin or pay the difference for a different cabin of service. Changes must be rebooked by Jan. 3. Travel must be completed within one year of the original ticket date. A difference in fare may apply.

United Airlines says you can reschedule your trip and they’ll waive change fees and differences in fares, but your new flight must be a United flight departing before Jan. 6.

Tickets must be in the same cabin and between the same cities as originally booked.
