FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. — One of the biggest movie studio facilities in North America, located just south of Atlanta, is about to grow the community around it and get a new name.
The Atlanta-based Trilith Group, who recently purchased the Pinewood Atlanta Studios located near Fayetteville, announced on Wednesday they are re-naming the studio and expanding the “live, work, play” community popping up around it.
The new community will include 1,400 homes, 12 restaurants, an office center, a school, a fitness center, nine cinemas, two hotels, 19 parks and over 15 miles of nature trails.
The new community will employ over 7,000 people on the property once everything is finished.
The new studio name will be “Trilith Studios,” and Trilith will be the name of the master development featuring custom homes and micro-villages, chef driven restaurants and schools targeted for those in the film and creative industries.
“The new Trilith Studios brand signals to the entertainment industry our expansion from a facilities business to an ecosystem intentionally built for the creative industries," said Frank Patterson, president and CEO of Trilith Studios.
Currently, the Pinewood Forest development occupies some 235 acres surrounding the studio, the Trilith concept will expand that footprint to 935 acres. The planned, walkable community was designed with plans to house 5,000 residents in 1,400 homes with 600 designed for multiple families.
Barleygarden Kitchen and Craft bar recently opened, with developers saying its the first of 12 food concepts that will appear in the 270,000 square foot retail development.
In addition, the developers plan to build 220,000 square feet of space on the property including a Creative Office Centre for content and technology companies plus 60,000 square feet of smart stages with virtual production technologies built in.
“We are excited about making a spectacular gathering place where professionals in the creative industries – and anyone who appreciates storytelling and innovation – will feel inspired and at home,” said Rob Parker, president of Trilith Development.
Developers say the residential neighborhoods will comprise the largest geothermal community in the U.S. with 51% dedicated to greenspace and over 1,000 trees. They say the property will have 15 miles of nature trails, 54 acres of forest and 19 parks plus a dog park.
“Everything we build is intended to endure and thrive, even 100 years from now,” said Parker.
The community will also feature a Piedmont Wellness Center, 60,000 square foot fitness facility, a K-12 school focused on story arts and the University of Georgia’s MFA Screenwriting program.
The Georgia Film Academy’s largest campus is also located on the property and includes a soundstage, workshops, postproduction facilities and classrooms.
Developers say this coming year, they’ll add a 180-room boutique hotel, a 120-room service hotel, a nine screen cinema and an 18,000 square foot soundstage built to host industry and arts related events.
