ATLANTA — A new poll conducted by Landmark Communications exclusively for WSB-TV shows the presidential and senate races in Georgia tighter than ever.
The poll surveyed 750 likely voters on Wednesday and has a margin of error of 3.6%.
[SPECIAL SECTION: Election 2020]
Asked who they would vote for if the election for president were held today, 48% chose Donald Trump and 47% chose Joe Biden. That’s a closer race than the previous poll taken on Oct. 21 which had Trump leading by four points.

Joe Biden (D) | 47.0% |
Jo Jorgensen (L) | 2.5% |

Libertarian candidate Jo Jorgensen is getting about 2.5%, which is not enough to impact the presidential race, but another Libertarian candidate is getting enough votes to have a national impact on the balance of the U.S. Senate.

Perdue has 47.2% and Ossof has 47.3%.

Georgia’s second U.S. Senate seat appears certain to go to a runoff. However which two candidates will be in the runoff is very up in the air.
Democrat Raphael Warnock is pulling further ahead in the race with 39.6% of the vote. It’s uncertain which candidate will be in the runoff with Warnock. Right now, incumbent Kelly Loeffler is second in the race with 25.1% however Rep. Doug Collins is right behind at 23.1%. No other candidate in the lengthy list of people running for the seat has more than 10%.
Candidate | Total |
---|---|
Raphael Warnock (D) | 36.9% |
Kelly Loeffler (R) | 25.1% |
Doug Collins (R) | 23.1% |
Matt Lieberman (D) | 9.1% |
Undecided | 3.0% |
An interesting side note from the poll: Joe Biden is leading among voters who have already voted, but President Trump has a lot of support among those who plan on voting on election day.
Visits from both presidential campaigns could sway voters again before Tuesday’s election. President Donald Trump is expected in Georgia on Sunday night. Senator Kamala Harris is expected in Georgia on Sunday as well.
