Joe Biden continues to pick up votes in Georgia after clinching presidency

ATLANTA — The election may have been determined by Pennsylvania’s 20 electoral votes, but Georgia is still waiting to see if the Peach State went blue.

As of Sunday morning, Vice President-Elect Joe Biden holds a lead of 10,195 votes over President Donald Trump in Georgia as ballots continue to trickle in.

Some of those outstanding votes are in Gwinnett County, where a software issue kept election workers from continuing to scan ballots Saturday.

Election officials told Channel 2 Anchor Justin Wilfon that the remaining 535 absentee-by-mail ballots were counted Sunday. Those votes have not yet been added to the official state totals on the Georgia Secretary of State’s website.

Gwinnett County still has 965 provisional ballots outstanding. They will be reviewed to determine their eligibility starting Monday morning.

In Fulton County, election workers had to return to State Farm Arena Saturday night after officials discovered that some provisional and military ballots had not been counted correctly or at all on Friday night.

Observers from both parties were there as nearly 350 ballots were rescanned.

“Out of an abundance of caution, all provisional, military and UOCAVA allots scanned on Friday, November 6 will be rescanned tonight,” Secretary of State Brad Raffesnperger said in a statement. “The upload made last night will be pulled and replaced with tonight’s rescanned file.”

It’s unclear if those ballots have been re-entered into statewide tallies, though Biden’s lead grew overnight.

If Biden wins the state, it will be the first time Georgia has gone blue since 1992.

Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger has said Georgia will face a recount if Biden only maintains a slim majority.
