President Trump to speak at rally in Dalton for Perdue, Loeffler

DALTON, Ga. — President Donald Trump will visit Dalton on the eve of Georgia’s crucial senate runoff, officials announced Sunday.

The rally will be held at the Dalton Regional Airport at 7 p.m. on Jan. 4.

Trump announced earlier this month that he would visit the state during a rally for Republican Senators Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue just before the election on Jan 5. Loeffler and Perdue are running against Democrats Raphael Warnock and John Ossoff, respectively.

The Republican National Committee is calling the event a “victory rally.” Trump, Perdue, Loeffler and candidate for Public Service Commissioner Lauren “Bubba” McDonald are all slated to speak.

The outcome of the runoff will determine the balance of power in Washington after President-elect Joe Biden takes office.

Republicans need one victory to maintain their Senate majority. Democrats need a Georgia sweep to force a 50-50 Senate and position Vice President-elect Kamala Harris as the tiebreaking vote.

Trump last visited Georgia earlier this month for a similar rally in Valdosta.
