ATLANTA,None — SWAT team agents raided a southwest Atlanta home Wednesday morning in search of a man wanted in a June killing, but he was nowhere to be found.
SWAT Raid Yields Drugs, Stolen Cars
Quinton Jones, 30, is wanted in the death of a man found in a parking lot of a convenience store near Lakewood Avenue and Lethea Street in southeast Atlanta. Police said the victim was shot to death before being dumped June 13. Sources told Channel 2 Action News the victim was Jones' 29-year-old brother, Lamarice Westbrook.
Police have been unable to capture Jones for months, but received word that he was at a house on Macon Drive, Atlanta police spokesman Curtis Davenport said. He said SWAT officers raided the home around 5 a.m., but Jones was not there.
"We did, however, find a large amount of Ecstasy pills, marijuana, and cocaine," Davenport told Channel 2's Amanda Cook.
Officers said the Ecstasy pills were too numerous to count and the marijuana totaled 12 pounds. In addition, there was a stripped-down pickup truck and two motocross bikes, Davenport said. Narcotics and auto theft officers were called to continue the investigation.
Neighbor Dennis Brown said he knew something bad was going on at the house.
"We always see a lot of cars, a lot of people, in and out, constantly," he told Cook.
