BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — A thief broke into an Alabama restaurant Tuesday morning, but he left the dough in the parking lot.
The thief covered the parking lot of a Rally's in southwest Birmingham with old hamburger buns, AL.com reported. The buns were moldy and smashed, prompting one observer to note, "The birds will be happy now," the website reported.
The restaurant was one of 12 Rally's locations in the Birmingham area that closed in March. The burglar broke into the building through a window around 8:35 a.m. and then began tossing buns into the parking lot, AL.com reported. Police have not determined a motive for the burglary, according to the website.
A suspect was detained, Birmingham West Precinct Capt. Sean Edwards told AL.com.
It was not clear whether the bread in the parking lot would be cleaned up or whether officials would just leave it to the birds.
