Ludacris donates $100,000 to Hurricane Dorian relief in Bahamas

ATLANTA — Chris "Ludacris" Bridges is pitching in to help Bahama victims devastated by Hurricane Dorian.

The Atlanta rapper, actor, restaurateur and philanthropist announced Wednesday that he will donate $100,000 from his annual Labor Day weekend event, LudaDay, to hurricane relief.

Since 2005, Ludacris has dedicated the Labor Day weekend "to social service and responsibility. The weekend brings together the Atlanta community and Luda's celebrity colleagues," according to the event website.

This year's LudaDay weekend event brought Jamie Foxx, Meagan Good, Terrence J., Young Dolph, Yella Beezy, Lance Gross, John Wall, Mack Wilds and other celebrities to Atlanta for golf, bowling, basketball and more.

LudaDay was recognized as an official citywide event by then-Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed in 2011.

Money raised usually goes to The Ludacris Foundation and other charities, but Ludacris announced on Instagram he will donate proceeds to hurricane relief.

Ludacris isn’t the only Atlanta celebrity to pledge support for Dorian victims.

On Wednesday, Tyler Perry, an "adoptive son" of the Bahamas, promised to help, the AJC reported.

In an Instagram post, Perry pledged that, "As soon as I can, I will be there to do whatever I can to help you rebuild stronger and better."
