According to the Huffington Post, Jess Mahoney and her husband, Kevin, had their first child, Corbin, four years ago. After Corbin's birth, the couple experienced the painful loss of six pregnancies.
Now, Jess is pregnant with her "rainbow baby," a term for a child "born following a miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death or infant loss,"according to Kicks Count. And photographer JoAnn Marrero of From Labor to Love knew just how to mark the occasion.
"I knew I had to do something extra special for her family," Marrero said in an interview with CBS News.
Marrero teamed up with Mary Maloney of Pebbles and Polka Dots Photography for a fiery photo shoot, complete with rainbow smoke bombs and colorful hair dye.
"With each burst of color, we watched this portrait coming to life behind my lens," Marrero told CBS News.
