The cat, who was born at the shelter, and adopted when he was young, was returned to Friends for Life when his owner moved and couldn't take him, according to the Houston Chronicle. Shortly after he returned to the shelter, cats started running amok overnight, and eventually, workers figured out who was freeing the felines thanks to surveillance video, CNN reported.
"We would come in the morning and have to collect all 15 of the cats who had had a blast during the night," Jennifer Hopkins told CNN.
Apparently the shelter wasn't the only place Quilty was able to open doors. He also let the dog out at his first family's home, the Post reported.
Quilty thrust himself into the internet spotlight with more than 30,000 Instagram followers.
The good news is, Quilty is on a trial adoption after his newfound fame.
His prospective owner says Quilty is affectionate and hasn't tried to break out ... yet, the Post reported.
