An Amazon delivery driver has been found dead in a yard in Missouri.
The Ray County Sheriff was called Monday by someone reporting that a delivery van had been sitting outside a home in Wood Heights, Missouri, for several hours, KCTV reported.
When deputies got to the location they found a body of a man outside a home.
Sheriff Scott Childers was told of two large, aggressive dogs — a German shepherd and English mastiff — that deputies and medical personnel had encountered.
“When my deputies arrived on scene they entered a shut gate and the two dogs approached them aggressively,” Childers told USA Today.
A deputy shot and wounded one of the dogs because of how aggressive it had been, KCTV reported. The dogs returned to the home. The sheriff saw blood on a dog door consistent with the wounded dog going back inside the house. Childers said that he killed both dogs at the home.
Childers said he could not determine the cause of the driver’s death but said that the man’s body did have several marks on it that were consistent with dog bites, USA Today reported.
A death investigation is ongoing since there was no confirmed cause of death for the driver. An autopsy was ordered for the man while a necropsy was ordered for the dogs in an effort to confirm or disprove a dog attack, KCTV reported.
The owners of the dogs were not home at the time of the incident, USA Today reported.
