Chip and Joanna Gaines’ Magnolia Network has removed a flagship program from its lineup after several of the show’s participants levied serious allegations against “Home Work” hosts Andy and Candis Meredith.
“Magnolia Network is aware that certain homeowners have expressed concerns about renovation projects undertaken by Candis and Andy Meredith. Within the last few days, we have learned additional information about the scope of these issues, and we have decided to remove ‘Home Work’ from the Magnolia Network lineup pending a review of the claims that have been made,” Magnolia Network president Allison Page said in a statement shared with Fox Business.
“Home Work” was one of Magnolia Network’s original shows that debuted on Discovery+ in July 2021. It was set to premiere on cable on Jan. 8, the network reported.
According to People magazine, several of the Utah-based couple’s former clients have detailed publicly in recent weeks how they believe they were scammed by the Merediths.
The duo previously hosted “Old Home Love” on HGTV, Fox Business reported.
The Merediths have responded to the accusations in a joint statement shared via social media that claims there are “two sides to every story.”
“We’ve seen stories that has (sic) been circulating, and although we cannot speak for anyone but ourselves, we can say that we have always tried to give everything we have to make anyone we work with happy,” the lengthy statement posted to Instagram begins.
At least three homeowners who worked with the Merediths for the show have come forward to date, alleging that the couple’s work was incomplete or had unsafe conditions, in addition to budget and timeline issues.
The Merediths’ statement called the “single sided narrative” about their work “extremely painful,” and the couple denied “adamantly” any accusations that they stole money from clients.’
