Coronavirus: Texas DOT posts electronic billboards reminding drivers to give extra space

It’s a sign of the times.

The Texas Department of Transportation is doing its part to warn motorists about the coronavirus by posting electronic billboards along the state’s highways.

“This week, @TxDOT encourages everyone to stay safe on the road and with each other,” Mark Williams, deputy director of the Texas DOT, tweeted Sunday.

The electronic billboards contain two different messages related to the COVID-19 outbreak. The first one reads, “Give xtra space with each other and on the road,” while the second one reminds motorists, “Hands clean to beat COVID-19, be on TX team.”

James Bass, the chief executive officer of the Texas DOT, tweeted the messages are being posted on highways throughout the state.

“Not on every sign, but on many of them,” Bass tweeted.
