Tyrese Gibson has announced the death of his mother, Priscilla Murray.
According to People magazine and “Entertainment Tonight,” the 43-year-old actor and singer shared the news in an Instagram video Monday, just nine days after he told fans that his mother had been hospitalized for treatment of COVID-19 and pneumonia.
“On behalf of my family and everyone who ever spent any time praying for my mother, this is the saddest moment of my life,” he captioned a video that shows the “Fast and Furious” star clasping Murray’s hand. “My sweet Valentine just passed away.”
Friends and fellow celebrities offered their support for Gibson in the comments.
“Stay strong,” rapper Snoop Dogg wrote.
“So sorry about this, brother,” added Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. “She was so proud of all you are and have become. Deepest condolences & love sent your way to you and your family.”
Gibson first posted that Murray was in a coma in the hospital’s intensive care unit on Feb. 5.
“In the middle of filming and just got the worst phone call I’ve ever gotten,” he wrote at the time. “I just had to ask the director [to] let me pause for a second, close my eyes and pray.”
He added: “I don’t have any words right now. Fight, mother, please fight.”
