Springsteen, 73, playing in Dallas for the first time in seven years, was without E Street members, announced on stage that guitarist Steven Van Zandt and singer-violinist Soozie Tyrell due to coronavirus, The Dallas Morning News reported

“We’re missing a few people tonight,” Springsteen told the near-capacity crowd at American Airlines Center, according to the newspaper. “But ... we’re gonna give Dallas the best show you’ve ever seen!”

Springsteen then launched into his version of “Out in the Streets,” Rolling Stone reported.

It was the sixth show of Springsteen’s 2023 North American tour, which opened on Feb. 1 in Tampa, Florida, according to the magazine. It was the second consecutive show that Tyrell was not in the lineup and the first for Van Zandt, Rolling Stone reported.

Springsteen’s wife, Patti Scialfa, who has played a few tour dates -- including Tuesday’s show in Hollywood, Florida -- did not appear in Friday’s show, the Morning News reported. No explanation was given.

Van Zandt, 72, confirmed his diagnosis in a tweet on Friday night.

“Sorry folks. Covid,” he wrote.

Springsteen and the E Street Band will perform on Tuesday in Houston. Van Zandt said he hoped to return to the lineup by then, Rolling Stone reported.
