NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Actor and comedian D.L. Hughley collapsed on stage during a show Friday night in Nashville, Tennessee.
Hughley was performing at Zanies Comedy Club when he suddenly stopped speaking and became unsteady on his seat. His manager rushed to the stage to help, ultimately carrying Hugley offstage with the help of a few other staff members.

Yvette Shearer, a publicist for the 57-year-old, said he was suffering from exhaustion after working and traveling during the week. Hughley said Saturday he was also dehydrated.
Hughley was treated at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville, where medical providers ran a number of tests. That’s when the test for COVID-19 came back positive, Hugley said, noting that the positive test result “blew (him) away.”
“I was what they call asymptomatic,” Hughley said in a video posted on social media. “I didn’t have any of the classic symptoms. I didn’t have flu-like symptoms. I didn’t have shortness of breath. I didn’t have difficulty breathing. I didn’t have a cough. I didn’t have a low grade fever. I still don’t have a fever. I didn’t have a loss of smell or taste. Apparently, I just lost consciousness.”
Hugley said he plans to quarantine in his hotel room for 14 days.
He also thanked friends and fans for their prayers, adding that he appreciates any continued support.
“Hopefully, I won’t develop symptoms. Maybe this is as bad as it gets,” he said.
