NEW YORK — Retailer Macy’s will shutter at least 28 stores in the coming months as sales remain sluggish despite unexpectedly buoyant holiday figures, multiple news outlets reported.

The closures are expected to affect Macy’s stores in at least 19 states – including Florida, California and Georgia – and at least one Bloomingdale’s location, CNN reported.

The company has not yet confirmed the closures or potential locations affected, telling USA Today in an emailed statement, “We regularly review our store portfolio and will provide an update at our Investor Day on February 5th.”

According to USA Today, the following stores are marked for closure based on local media reports with liquidation sales slated to begin within the month:

California

• Antioch: Somersville Towne Center

Connecticut

• Meriden: Westfield Meriden Mall

Florida

• Pompano Beach: Pompano Citi Centre

• Sanford: Seminole Towne Center

• Vero Beach: Indian River Mall

• Miami Bloomingdales: The Falls

Georgia

• Decatur: The Gallery at South DeKalb

• Macon: Macon Mall

Hawaii

• Waikoloa Village: Kings' Shops

Idaho

• Lewiston: Lewiston Center Mall

Illinois

• Carbondale: University Mall

• West Dundee: Spring Hill Mall

Indiana

• Muncie: Muncie Mall

Kansas

• Prairie Village: Prairie Village Shopping Center

Kentucky

• Owensboro: Towne Square Mall

Maryland

• Salisbury: The Centre at Salisbury

Massachusetts

• Leominster: The Mall at Whitney Field

Montana
