RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. — A Florida-based cruise line announced a new program offering free cruise tickets to military members, veterans and first responders, starting this month.
Margaritaville at Sea’s “Heroes Sail Free” program applies to GovX ID-verified U.S. military service members (active duty and veterans), police, fire, EMS personnel and educators.
Through the program, those who qualify can get one free passage on its three-day, two-night trips to the Bahamas between Sept. 9, 2022, and Dec. 29, 2023, according to Military.com.
The 1,680-passenger cruises leave Port of Palm Beach, Florida, to Freeport, Grand Bahama Island. The offer is for interior staterooms only, but upgrades may be available.
“To show our sincere gratitude for their ongoing service, we wanted to offer these frontline heroes a chance to kick off their boots and work shoes and flip flop into a relaxing getaway,” said Kevin Sheehan, Jr., president and CEO of Margaritaville at Sea. “We hope a little downtime to recover from the demands of their day-to-day responsibilities is just what they need.”
According to the Margaritaville at the Sea website, the program has blackout dates on Dec. 30, 2022, and Dec. 31, 2023, and could add more at any time. The offer is limited to one sailing per member per year. A $50 per person deposit is required for bookings, 61 days from departure.
