FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A Florida man beat and stabbed a man in the head who walked into a KFC Wednesday begging for food, investigators said.
Branden Dion Pearson was approached by the man asking for food around noon inside the restaurant, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported.
Pearson refused to feed him and then started calling the man names. The two started shouting and cursing at each other inside the restaurant. Then, they started punching each other in the doorway. When an employee got between them, Pearson was inside and the victim, who has not been named, was outside.
The victim then grabbed a handful of pebbles from the parking lot and slung them at Pearson. Pearson then pushed past the employee and knocked the victim to the ground. The victim tried to fight back but Pearson, who was on top, pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the head.
Pearson then went back inside and waited for police to arrive. Pearson told investigators that he stabbed the victim because he threw rocks at him.
Pearson was arrested and charged with murder without premeditation, according to arrest records. He was being held on $50,000 bond.
