Penny Elizabeth Boyd was pulled over around 6 p.m. after police saw a dark blue Mercedes-Benz with features that were similar to a vehicle involved in several car burglaries, WBIR reported.

Boyd told investigators she let a man named “Jeremy,” who she met through a mutual friend, borrow the vehicle a few weeks ago, but she was unable to provide officers with any other information about him.

A K9 officer detected the presence of drugs and investigators discovered 19 grams of methamphetamine, more than 6 grams of marijuana, an undetermined amount of heroin, 18 Focalin pills, an amphetamine salt pill, a digital scale and other drug paraphernalia. Officers also found $753 believed to have come from selling drugs.

Boyd was arrested and charged with felony possession of Schedule II drugs with intent to sell, possession of unlawful drug paraphernalia and two counts of simple possession.

Boyd was the principal at Sunbright School from 2010 to 2012. She was charged with child abuse and sued in 2012 over accusations she repeatedly hit a child with a paddle. The charges were dropped in 2014 after she submitted an apology in court, WBIR reported.
