ALBANY, Ga. — A Georgia hospital just had a very special discharge during this very difficult time.
Maude Burke is 99 years old and is the oldest COVID-19 patient to be discharged from Phoebe Putney Health System in Albany, Georgia.
Burke, who is just short of her 100th birthday, received a special sendoff from the hospital’s nurses and staff. They lined the hallway and cheered her on as she left to go home.
The hospital posted on its Facebook page that “Her strength and determination are amazing, and we wish her well as she continues to recover.”
Burke continues to be an inspiration to everyone at the hospital and everyone else in the world.
99 year-old Patient DischargeWe continue to celebrate with our #COVID_19 patients when they get well enough to go home from our hospitals. This celebration was extra special. Maude Burke is just a few months shy of her 100th birthday! She is the oldest COVID-19 patient we’ve been able to discharge. Her strength and determination are amazing, and we wish her well as she continues to recover. Thank you for being an inspiration, Ms. Maude!
